
Brett J. Hoffman, CPA, AIF® Executive Vice President
Brett is the Lead Advisor for the Financial Services team and is a Principal with The Insurance Exchange. He brings clients an extremely diverse background in Finance, Accounting, Qualified Retirement Plans, Wealth Management and Insurance. After graduating from the Robert H. Smith School of Business at The University of Maryland, Brett worked at Reznick Group, a large Washington, DC based public accounting firm. At Reznick Group, Brett obtained experience in for profit and nonprofit audits and corporate taxation. In 1996, Brett chose to take a different career path and pursue the Financial Services industry. He joined First Financial Group, an independent Financial Planning firm in Bethesda, MD and built a planning practice of Business Owners, Executives, Professionals and Corporate Retirement Plans. Brett joined the Insurance Exchange in 2000 to expand the Corporate Retirement Plan practice and continue to build the individual planning and wealth management services to a growing clientele. Brett is an active member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA) and National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA). He has Series 24, 7, 63, 65, life and health insurance licenses, is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and has earned the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® professional designation from Fiduciary360. He has received formal training in investment fiduciary responsibility.

Karen C. McArthur, AIF® Financial Services Manager
Karen has been working in Financial Customer Service for over twelve years. Her experience began as a Senior Specialist with Merrill Lynch where she earned her Series 7 registration. In this position, she provided account service to CEO's and Executives of companies that included Coca Cola, Pepsi, Intel, McDonalds and others. She worked daily with very complex investments including stock options. Her experience also includes working for Oppenheimer Funds where she provided excellent Customer Service and knowledge to individual clients as well as Advisors. In her position at Jackson National Life she was trained in variable, fixed and fixed-indexed annuities. Her performance and leadership skills quickly resulted in her being promoted to Team Supervisor of the processing department. This position required attention to detail, organization, product knowledge, excellent customer service and the ability to meet deadlines. This has helped her in her current position at The Insurance Exchange to prepare strategic timelines to ensure that all of our initiatives are met. Karen works directly with Brett Hoffman, the lead Financial Advisor as well as all team members and the clients we service. Karen's financial knowledge is extremely well rounded from her vast industry experience. She is a graduate of Westminster College with a BA degree in Business Administration. In addition to her Securities registration, she is currently licensed in Life and Health and earned the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® professional designation from Fiduciary360. She has received formal training in investment fiduciary responsibility.
